I am Dr. Ashwini A. Kale PT, PhD, a Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist and Founder of the Pelviheal Academy of Rehabilitation and Research. I currently serve as a Professor at Anand College of Physiotherapy in Aurangabad, India, with 14 years of experience in women's health and pelvic floor rehabilitation. My work focuses on urogynecological dysfunctions, pregnancy-related issues, and postpartum recovery, with a strong emphasis on evidence-based practice. I specialize in advanced techniques such as pelvic floor manual therapy, biofeedback, urodynamics, and diastasis recti rehabilitation, helping women regain confidence and functionality. I have conducted courses and workshops across India, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai and collaborated internationally with organizations like the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). I am also actively involved in the International Continence Society (ICS), having contributed as a committee member for Impact & Management of UT affected by Gynecological Pathology. My academic journey, including a PhD in pelvic floor rehabilitation and a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Urodynamics (ICS) from the Netherlands, has fueled my commitment to advancing physiotherapy education and research. What inspired me to pursue this career is the profound impact pelvic floor physiotherapy can have on women's quality of life, especially in regions where awareness and resources are limited. I find immense satisfaction in empowering women and spreading knowledge through teaching, clinical practice, and global collaborations.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received during your career?
The best piece of advice I’ve received during my career is to "focus on creating impact rather than seeking recognition." This wisdom has guided me to prioritize patient outcomes, quality education, and evidence-based practices over accolades. By staying dedicated to empowering women through pelvic floor rehabilitation and spreading awareness about its importance, I’ve learned that meaningful contributions naturally lead to recognition. This advice has inspired me to keep learning, teaching, and collaborating globally, ensuring my work makes a difference where it’s needed most.

One book I’d highly recommend is "The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle. It offers profound insights into mindfulness and presence, which I find particularly valuable in both my professional and personal life. It aligns well with the importance of mental well-being, which complements my focus on pelvic health and rehabilitation. As for music, I love listening to classical music, especially piano pieces by composers like Beethoven and Chopin. It helps me relax and creates a peaceful environment after a long day.
