Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a commonly discussed issue in the general media. Increasingly, ultrasound practitioners are encountering it as software options on new systems. We will describe what AI in the form of automated image analysis currently delivers in Pelvic Floor Imaging, separating hype from reality. We’ll also try to explore what clinicians can expect in the future.

Frieda van den Noort is a biomedical engineer with an interest in automatic image analysis in the field of urogynaecology. She obtained her PhD in 2021 at the University of Twente. The topic of her PhD thesis was on automatic analysis of transperineal ultrasound images. She is currently working as a postdoctoral researcher on understanding the pessary support mechanisms using upright MRI and working towards tailor-made pessaries.
