Urogynecology in Nepal
In addition to the urogynecology fellowship training efforts underway at B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan, Nepal, three fellows graduated in 2019 from the urogynecology fellowship program under the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS): Ganesh Dangal, Madhu Shrestha, and Ranjana Shrestha. All are members of the Urogyne Committee of the Nepal Obs/Gyn Society.
The 1st South Asian Federation of Urogynaecology (SAFUG) Conference – held February 21-22 in Biratnagar, Nepal – is evidence of the focus on urogynecology within the region. SAFUG was established to encourage, enhance, and exchange evidence-based scientific knowledge among health professionals of developing countries. This was their first annual conference, organized around the theme “Changing Trends and Challenges in Urogynaecology.” Attendees gathered for a 2-day conference that included live workshops, keynote sessions, distinguished lectures and exhibitions.
