Meet an International Advisory Board (IAB) Member: Surandhra Ramphal

Suran Ramphal began his term representing Africa on IUGA’s International Advisory Board in 2020. He also serves as the Treasurer for the South African Urogynecology Association.
How long have you been an IUGA member?
Ramphal: Since 2003 (19 years).
What was your path to a board position within IUGA?
Ramphal: I presented papers at the IUGA meeting, chaired meetings, and serve as the treasurer in SAUGA.
What is your role within IUGA?
Ramphal: I represent Africa on the International Advisory Board and chair the Regional Advisory Board for Africa.
What motivates you to be a volunteer leader for IUGA?
Ramphal: IUGA is an international body that embraces all the continents and is proactive with regard to teaching, training and pursuing research of basic and advanced urogynecology and pelvic floor issues.
What do you wish all members knew about IUGA or that you could say to all members?
Ramphal: Use the IUGA website and maximize usage of the benefits provided.
What’s the most exotic place you have traveled?
Ramphal: Como, Italy

Ramphal: Indian

What are your hobbies?
Ramphal: Watching wildlife, hikes, reading and watching live sport
