Meet a Publications Committee Member: Juan Michelle Martin (pronounced Jew-Ann Me-Shell)
Juan Michelle Martin DPT, Post Graduate Certificate in Sexuality Health and Counceling, Birth Doula, Member of a Variety of Pelvic Floor Related Organizations Including IUGA, IPPS, ISSWSH, ISSM, as well as Birth Related Organizations Like Based Birth and The National Black Doulas Association
How long have you been an IUGA member?
Martin: Since 2020
What was your path to volunteering on an IUGA committee?
Martin: I was interested in volunteering and an opportunity arose to do so.
What motivates you to be a volunteer for IUGA?
Martin: Networking within the professional community and being among peers, but more importantly, being a part of an organization, whose role is to increase awareness on issues that affect so many and can impact public education.
What do you wish all members knew about IUGA or that you could say to all members?
Martin: There are many resources available within IUGA and a vast array of professionals from all over the world doing amazing work. If you are a member, tap into your community!
Most exotic place you have traveled:
Martin: Cartagena, Colombia
Favorite food:
Martin: It depends on the day. Currently craving fried flying fish from home (Barbados) but I could eat Thai curries or Jollof rice every day.
Last book you read:
Martin: We Should All Be Millionaires by Rachel Rodgers
Hobbies:
Martin: Being outdoors in nature, traveling, coaching youth volleyball and most of all being with my family.
